Sumi-e & Beyond
with instructor Jennifer Kane
Tuesdays, 1–4pm
8 weeks: March 18 – May 7
Sumi-e ink painting is a zen practice of capturing the essence of an object or scene with simple beauty and elegance. You will learn traditional sumi-e ink brushwork techniques, then use them to create a contemporary work of art.
Ceramicists who use brushwork on their pottery may also enjoy this class.
The instructor was influenced by Shozo Sato throughout her BFA and MFA at University of Illinois, learning at the Japan House arts and culture center and building costumes for Shozo’s Kabuki theatre productions.
This is a virtual class. It will be held online via ZOOM. Details on how to get set up with ZOOM will be included in your registration confirmation email.
