Joe Beddall – Recent work
Exhibiting at KISH Bank Expect More Store in December is Art Alliance Member Joe Beddall. His work has been in many Art Alliance shows and most recently won honorable mention in the Abstraction Show.
Joe’s exhibit, titled “Joe Beddall – Recent work,” presents the ongoing exploration of two bodies of work created in the last two years. He works with fiberglass screen using an experimental process that records sedimentary patterns achieved by collaborating with nature.
Opening Reception
Join Joe to celebrate the opening of his show Friday, December 2 from 5:30–7:30 pm. Appetizers and drinks are generously provided by KISH Bank. Joe’s exhibition is also included in State College’s First Friday events.
Artist Bio
Joe Beddall has worked as a visual artist in the Washington, DC area and State College, Pa., areas for more than 40 years. In 2011, he was awarded a five-week residency in Obama, Japan, where he created public sculpture for the city’s Chamber of Business. Beddall spent a four-week residency in 2012 at the VAST arts organization under the direction of celebrated artist Asha Kama Wangdi in Thimphu, Bhutan, conducting a workshop and installing a work titled “Color Karma.” He was chosen as the 2013 New Arts Program Dual Residency winner, exhibiting 34 works of sculpture, painting and prints at Northhampton Community College and The New Arts Program in Kutztown PA.
Beddall was born in Reading, Pa. He received a BA in Art Education with an emphasis in sculpture from Kutztown State University in 1978. Upon graduation he moved to the Washington, DC area undertaking further studies in printmaking and ceramics at Northern Virginia Community College and Hinckley Pottery Studio respectively. After 14 years in the DC metropolitan area he relocated to State College, PA completing additional course work at Penn State University.
His work has found its way into private collections throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. He continues to exhibit in the Pittsburgh, Washington DC and State College areas.
