Wednesdays, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
February 7 – 28 (4 weeks)
with instructors Lisa Baumgartner & Alice Clark
In this 4 session class we will be focusing on learning the process of gelli print making, with one session devoted entirely to learning linocut— carving and printing. There will be two instructors for the class: Alice Clark will be teaching the introduction to gelli printing class, as well as the class on linocut. Lisa Baumgartner will be teaching the last two sessions on advanced gelli printing techniques. This will be a fun and exploratory class, where you will learn both the basics of these techniques, as well as some more advanced techniques to try on the gelli plate. We will also talk about how you can incorporate the prints you make in the class into further art projects: mixed media, book binding, collage, card making, and beyond! This would be a rewarding class for anyone new to gelli printing/linocut, but also to those who have had previous experience in these printmaking techniques.
The breakdown of what will be coved in each session is as follows:
February 7th: the basics of gelli print making, and making our first prints
February 14th: introduction to linocut
February 21st: making out own stencils and stamps for the gelli plate
February 28th: learning the process of gelli printing “image transfer”
