Join us for a virtual poetry reading by the authors exhibited in this month’s Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery: Reflections on Americans and the Holocaust.

5:30 pm on Tuesday, January 11 via Zoom

The community exhibition of local poetry and art was developed in response to the “Americans and the Holocaust” traveling exhibition at University Libraries, Penn State on loan there from January 29 thru March 10, 2022.

According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, “Holocaust history raises important questions about what Europeans could have done to stop the rise of Nazism in Germany and its assault on Europe’s Jews. Questions also must be asked of the international community, including the United States. What did the US government and the American people know about the threats posed by Nazi Germany? What responses were possible? And when? This exhibition examines the motives, pressures, and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war, and genocide.” Developed in partnership with Schlow Library, local poets and artists reflected on these questions and created the works on display.

The event is free. Please register in advance through Schlow Library.
