This course concentrates on developing and deepening your multi block relief printmaking skills. Learn how to vary your marks and carving, create more skilled compositions, understand mark making transitions, and further your color mixing skills. We will work on 8” x 10” unmounted Dick Blick “Battleship Grey linoleum” blocks. Upon completion of this course you will have made one multi-color edition as well as an abstract mark making exploration.
Skill level: intermediate or above. Choose the afternoon or evening class.
Supplies
A $25 materials fee payable to instructor is due the first day of class. The materials fee covers 5 printing blocks, ink, modifiers, registration jig, tracing and transfer paper, pencils, markers and a suitable quantity of printing paper per person for a 10 print edition. We’ll use non-toxic, easy cleanup Speedball watersoluble inks for the mark making exploration and Cranfield Caligo SafeWash oil-based water-miscible inks for the edition.
All tools (gouges, brayers, jigs, barens etc) will be provided.
Registration
Classes are Mondays from 1-4:00p or 6–9:00p and run for 8 weeks. The fee is $140 for Art Alliance members ($170 non-members) plus a $25 materials fee payable to the instructor.
