Narrative Figures in Oil or Acrylic with Joanne Landis

Join Joanne Landis (previously) in this 1-day workshop to practice painting narrative figures.

The workshop will begin with drawing warm-ups in pencil with a rapid understanding of the figure and layout. This will be followed by a series of small paintings in black and white and color, with critiques at each stage. The afternoon will be spent working on a large canvas. Students can expect a follow up critique of their finished painting within a month.

The instructor will provide: paper and pencils, all canvases, and images.

Participants should bring:

  • a sample of their work,
  • oil or acrylic paints (see color list below)
  • brushes,
  • and a palette.

Bring the following paint colors:

  • red medium
  • cadmium yellow medium
  • zinc lemon yellow
  • cerulean blue
  • ultramarine blue
  • burnt sienna
  • basic green
  • black
  • lots of white
