Oil Portraits
We will focus on painting the expressive portrait in oils. Bring in a photo of a portrait you want to paint and
your questions. We’ll talk about how to work with photo reference – how to edit the light and color
information in the photo so it looks more life-like and expressive. We’ll also learn about how to get a good
likeness, how to capture expressions, how to create skin tones, how to paint hair, edges, texture, different
lighting situations, and whatever else we have time for! For all levels. Come to the first class ready to paint.
