Class Description

Pastel, pure pigment in stick form, is an immediate and versatile medium. Using sanded paper and underpainting techniques, a wide variety of effects are possible. The focus in this class will be on the landscape with particular attention to value, composition, and use of color to convey light in the natural world. We will experiment with a variety of underpainting techniques as a way to start a painting and since it’s winter we will work from photos.
Registration Information
- 6 week session
- Starts Jan. 13 and meets every Thursday from 1–4:00pm
- Classes are held at the Art Alliance Center
- Class fee is $110 for Art Alliance members ($135 non-members)
