Vanessa Temple’s eye popping artwork will be up at the State College Downtown Improvement District’s offices in September & October. Stop by and check it out!

There is plenty of art in State College to admire, but in the case of this month’s featured artist, it’s not just art in State College but art from State College. Each month, the Downtown Improvement District features a new artist’s work, and this month, State College’s very own Venessa Temple is in the spotlight. Temple is a State College native, born and raised, who graduated from State High in 1999. She says that while she left home multiple times, she inevitably found herself back in the place she loved, leading her to get her undergraduate degree in philosophy at Penn State.
Temple not only creates art but she explores other creative outlets such as cooking and baking. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rowing, strength training, and exploring the vast art community the centre region offers. Temple’s main area of work is abstract geometric art, which she produces with alcohol-based markers. Alcohol-based markers provide the artist with an effortless blending, no-streak drawing experience, an experience that helped Temple create gorgeous pieces such as “A Vibrant Thing,” “Fireball,” and others featured below.
Temple’s art will be shown during the opening artists reception at the First Friday event on the 6th in the Downtown Improvement District building located at 127 S Fraser Street.
