Christopher Leeper is a nationally known artist from Canfield, Ohio. He participates frequently in national juried and invitational plein air events and is a consistent award winner. He teaches in a fun and relaxed style. Each day there will be demonstrations and lots of one-on-one instruction. The workshop will focus on the process of creating a watercolor painting. He will speak in depth about devising a plan for success with your painting; the importance of drawing, design and brushwork; simplifying and improving color mixing (no more muddy watercolors) and how to get dynamic value relationships.

Painting in Nature Workshop with Alice Kelsey

Alice Kelsey is a full-time artist, working primarily in oil and pastel in a colorful and expressive abstract impressionist style. Her work is recoginized with awards in national juried exhibitions,as well as signature membership in the Maryland and Central Pennsylvania Pastel Societies.
The two day workshop students will develop skills and approaches to create with focus and enthusiasm while learning from nature. Open doors to seeing more – Paint outdoors!

Narrative Painting Workshop with Joanne Landis
October 20 & 21, 11am – 2pm each day

Joanne describes herself as a “narrative painter, a storyteller” with figures, mostly women, are often mediations or archetypes, myth or personal experience.. She has exhibited her work throughout the Northeast, Florida, and California. Her two day workshop in acrylics will concentrate on the human figure as part of the environment. The first day students will draw the figure using gesture and contour, then the figure in various spatial designs using photographi/sources. Students will paint several rapid small paintings using a limited palette followed by critique. In the second session students will develop one large painting with critiques throughout.
