Meet the Juror

Juror: Jennifer Anderson

Jen teaches BISC 3, an environmental science class at Penn State that encourages students to see themselves as part of nature. She creates “beer-rings”—beautifully designed earrings made from aluminum beer cans.

Show History/Details

The Recycled Show is an opportunity for artists to express their love of and concern for the environment as well as the importance of creating a sustainable lifestyle through recycling programs like the one we are fortunate to have in Centre County. We invite you to search your garage, basement, and attic and find interesting materials to create an entry for this exciting show!

All works must be made primarily from recycled or repurposed materials and adhere to the theme.

Materials found in nature (i.e. rocks, grass, etc.) may be included but may not be the majority of materials used. Artists must include a short statement about how their works align with the show’s theme. Collaborations are welcome.

Awards:

Three cash awards will be given at the juror’s discretion.A Peoples’ Choice cash award will be given at end of show.

Eligible Work

All works must be made primarily from recycled or repurposed materials and adhere to the theme, On the Books. Materials found in nature (i.e. rocks, grass, etc.) may be included but may not comprise the majority of materials used. 

Collaborations are welcome. 

Two works are permitted per entry.

No ceiling-hung works are permitted.

Works must be ready for installation (wired on back) or stand on pedestals or on the floor. All paint, varnish and coatings should be completely dry and not giving off odor.

Entries should not have won an award at aany previous Art Alliance Show.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

Prepare Your Artwork

PLEASE NOTE: The Show Chair or Art Alliance Exhibition Committee Chair reserves the right to reject entries that do not meet these requirements and will have the final decision on how the work is displayed.

2-D Work
Wall hangings must be wired on back, no hooks.
Poorly framed work, unframed work, clips, brackets, partial frames or wet work will not be accepted.
Unframed stretched canvases are acceptable. Sides must be finished and have secured wiring.
All pieces under glass or plexiglass must be framed.

3-D work may not exceed 100lbs. Piece must be stable in its position and securely attached to its base.

Artwork that requires complex installation or exceeds 4'x4' should be confirmed with Art Alliance Executive Director before applying to show.

Work must be properly labeled for intake. Labels will be provided at intake.

Artwork Drop Off and Pick Up Dates & Times

Final Date for Entry: March 28th

Work Intake: March 31, 2-4pm or by appointment (via email)

Work Pickup: April 19th 5-6pm or by appointment (via email)

Sales and Conditions

You may choose to sell your work through the Art Alliance Exhibits and Shows. 

Please note the Art Alliance does charge 20% commission on all work sold through our exhibits, shows, and sales.  Additional Fees and taxes may be applied to the final sale price, 6% PA sales tax as well as shipping and handling fees (if applicable)
