Artist Statement
My paintings typically begin in the form of color notations that evoke the spirit, atmosphere, and light effects I perceive. These notes inform and serve as a basis for my finished pieces. Whether painting a still life, a portrait or a landscape, I explore the innate poetic potential in the subject and attempt to express its essence.
Seeing and painting honestly and accurately is as important as revealing the inherent secrets and narratives that seize my imagination. While chronicling the visual, these interpretations also mirror my inner life and chart the flow of time.
