Beginning Drawing

Students will learn to master light and shadow while creating illusions of 3D objects on paper. They will also delve into the emotive qualities of line and texture. Creating depth will be stressed but perspective will be touched upon if participants feel comfortable. With instructor Julia Nelson.

Draw and Paint with India Ink

India ink is an ancient drawing and painting medium that allows for high contrast, spontaneity, and experimentation. Three projects: portrait, landscape, and abstract, will be the playground to learn and practice techniques and concepts introduced in class. With instructor Jennifer Kane.

In this class we will review the basic concepts of value and composition. We will delve further into creating portraits, landscapes, and still life that have better proportions and are more visually appealing. Color Reduction Linocut

In this class you will learn the techniques for color reduction linocut printmaking using a single lino plate for relief cutting and layering inks. You will develop your individual cutting marks and experiment with ink mixing and transparency while creating a three to four color edition. Open to all skill levels. With instructor Cindy Hassler.

Painting Open Studio on Tuesdays

An opportunity for open studio time. No instruction provided. You may attend as suits your schedule but please email the coordinator in advance of each session if you are planning to attend so can ensure proper distancing if necessary. Coordinator: Susan Graham, [email protected]

Thursday Open Model Session

Ever want to try drawing the nude figure? Come enjoy the challenge of working from the model during timed poses. Figure drawing is simply one of the best ways to keep your eye and drawing skills sharp. No instruction, but you’ll be working alongside dedicated artists from a variety of art fields.

  • Fee: $10 payable each day you attend
