Cold Wax & Oil: Abstracts and Abstracted Landscapes (3-Day Workshop)

Join artist Linda Benton McCloskey for a three-day workshop exploring the expressive possibilities of oil paint and cold wax medium. Designed for both beginners and experienced painters, this class will help you loosen up, build confidence, and create richly layered, textural work.

Participants will learn a range of techniques including layering, scraping, and mark-making using tools. Through demonstrations and guided practice, Linda will show how to build depth, create luminosity, and develop strong compositions.

The workshop will explore both intuitive abstracts and abstracted landscapes, using imagination as well as optional reference photos. Emphasis will be on color, design, value, and dynamic surfaces.

Students will work on multiple pieces throughout the workshop, encouraging exploration and growth. By the end, you’ll complete several paintings and leave with strong starts for future work, along with a deeper understanding of process and personal expression.

Bring supplies to the first class.  A supply list will be provided prior to the start of class.
