Description: Susan Nicholas is a lifelong plein air and studio painter, who will support you in the steps of learning how to create a unique and personally expressive pastel painting in the subject of your choice. Susan Nicholas’s teaching philosophy is to, “Connect, Inspire, Support”. After Susan graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Susan began teaching pastels at the Art Alliance in 1983. She is highly skilled and experienced in teaching all mediums and levels.

In this workshop you will discover how to see beyond the basic color in your photograph being used for your painting inspiration, and explore the use of the vibrant colors in the pastel medium. Each morning Susan will begin with a short “kick Start” demonstration designed to inspire each artist. Susan will help you learn to how to apply and layer the depth of colors needed to create a successful painting. There will be support and attention given at each artist’s easel in a relaxed and playful atmosphere.

Important: Susan encourages each artist to contact her by email after they register, and share their personal goals for this workshop. This is important to her so she can connect with each artist so she can prepare demonstrations based on student needs.
